A new and innovative take on tourism in the South-East of Chiapas :
Mangomextours is a small-scale tourist operation which aims to focus on meeting the needs of the discerning traveller , looking for a more in-depth insight into the natural beauty of this corner of Mexico, and at the same time hoping to learn something of the cultural life of Chiapanecan communities both today and in times distant past.
Mangomex is run and owned by a British national and current full-time secondary teacher in the UK, fluent in Spanish and with many years experience of travel in the region. At present the tours will initially run only during UK school holidays (August / Christmas / Easter period). With plans to expand the tours to other regions in and around southern Mexico and beyond, tours will be available at other times of year in the near future, using local contacts and expertise for help and support.
The UK owner is married to a Mexican national from the Chiapas region, who is also bilingual and keen to share her knowledge of the gastronomy, culture and way of life of Chiapanecan people today. Transport is to be arranged by a reputable local company based in Comitan, with many years tourism experience.
